Like the rest of the country, Maryland citizens will return to a world of work grappling with a legacy of racial inequity. They will find fewer employers, increased competition, and a need for different skills. Our community members most impacted by the intersection of COVID-19 and the fight for racial equity will also find that they often have access to the fewest resources to meet these challenges.
Gary A. Officer, President & CEO of the Center for Workforce Inclusion, sat down with U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) to discuss to discuss a number of critical workforce issues confronting our state. With workforce as the glue, the conversation included several hot button issues of concern to the community, including:
- The impact of COVID-19 on our regions older workforce.
- Black Lives Matter
- How do we ensure an equitable economic recovery?
- A return to civility? How do we get there!
